I Can't Take You With Me But...

So we'll be leaving in a few days for our big pilgrimage to Rome.

I vacillate between

and

For some reason God wants us there.  I have no delusions about the enormity of this trip or how difficult it is going to be.  (Okay, well, maybe a few.  I'm trying to quell the visions of all four children sleeping soundly for all ten hours of the flight and the daydreams of just maybe getting a chance to stick our toes into the Tyrrhenian Sea.)  There is a huge chance we won't even be able to make it to the canonizations because of the expected crowds, which is funny because that was the impetus for the whole trip.  But it's all in His hands.  We will supposedly have wifi in our apartment and best case scenario I'll be able to post a few pictures every few days of our journeyings.  (Sorry to those of you who will be bored to tears by that.  I'll catch you in a few weeks ;)  We are so grateful to be going on this trip.  SO grateful.  And as corny as it sounds, I really do feel like I'm taking a whole lot of people with me in spirit.

What I'd love to do is bring you with us, too.

Buuuut I can't do that.
I CAN, however, bring your intentions.

I'll be making a list over the next few days before we leave and I'll keep it with me in all the holy places we will be visiting.  I'll do my best to bring these intentions before the tombs of Blessed John Paul II and the incorrupt body of Blessed John XXIII (if we can get close enough!) and I would consider it an honor if you were to add your needs to it.

So, please let me pray for you.  You can add your intentions in the comments or email me privately at betterthaneden1 (at) yahoo (dot) com.

And I just ask in return that you maybe say a prayer for our travels as well.

Thank you!!

  2. welp, you know what i am going to ask for, right? given my extreme anxiety about l&d, coupled with the fact that i might have this babe while you are gone....for a safe, healthy, manageable and speedy (tho not so fast that i deliver in the car rather than the hospital) labor, delivery and baby. And all the things that go along with it. You know what they are ;) Thanks Mary! We will be praying for you guys!

  3. Praying for your trip! Thank you for the offer. I would ask your prayers for my husband John - for his complete conversion and that our marriage will be strengthened and we will seek the will of God for our family.

I also have a 1 hr, 4hr, and then 14 hour flight all on one day with two young boys next week. I can completely relate. It is my third time though and it always works out well in the end no matter how I feel.

  5. Prayers for your trip!

You can pray for my prayer intention..for my husband to find a full time lawyer job in the city to which we wish to move and that he passed the bar exam in that state (IN).

  6. I can't wait to see the pictures from your trip! I'll be praying for all of you. Please pray for my husband to continue to do well in school, for him to be blessed with a good job, and for financial stability for our family. For the family of Cecilia Harrison, she passed away at only four months old and for all those battling terminal illnesses. For a safe delivery of our new baby boy. For some special intentions that are in my heart.

  7. Please pray for Michael's conversion, for guidance for the board of our Learning Center, and for my continued remission. Oh and Ben and Ava and Sweetie. Thanks!

Also, for sleeping on the plane has anyone suggested Calms Forte? It's by Hyland's, it's homeopathic so it's totally safe, and it might be an alternative to Benadryl. I've had mixed results but that's just how it is with Homeopathy. I meant to mention it when you asked and my tab got closed on my screen and consequently, on my mind.

    God speed!

  8. I would love for you to take my intentions. Especially my prayers for my three sons, one adult who has left his faith (not outwardly or vocally, just not practicing), one who is marrying in a year and his fiancée is coming into the Church at this Easter vigil, and one teen who is just having a really hard time with life right now.

Thank you. And I will remember your intentions, and pray your visions come to fruition..

  17. We will be praying for YOUR safe travel, Mary....and yes, please, if you could keep in mind an intention for me. I'd be so grateful: Knowing that you are at the tomb of JPII, our hero, is amazing.....Just a prayer for peace in our family, which sounds so cliche and so ordinary, but it's really not, as the teen years are a bit, well, tumultuous, and as we close the last 2 mos of the school year productively and successfully, meeting reqs for state tests and registering for school in Sept. THANK YOU, friend! You lucky girl you! I cannot WAIT for those pictures. Post tons of them....often.
