Cabled Earwarmer Knitting Pattern

Cozy Cabled Earwarmer
Copyright Better Than Eden 2012

After several attempts, I wrote another little pattern!  It's a simple knit that only takes a few hours to complete and results in a sweet earwarmer to take the chill out of those winter days.  The pattern is free to use buplease link back to this site if you publish or share anything about it and please keep my copyright in place.  Please let me know if you have any questions and I would love to hear about it if you do use it!  Thank you!

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (shown in Knitpicks Superwash merino wool yarn in Allspice)
Size 7 circular needles 16" long
Small cable needle (or use a short dpn smaller than size 7)
Darning Needle
Place marker

Instructions:
CO 96 using the long tail cast on
Place marker and join in the round being sure not to twist stitches.

Round 1:  *K2, P2, K6, P2*  Repeat * sequence until end

Rounds 2 & 3:  Repeat round one

Round 4:  CABLE ROUND  *K2, P2, Slip 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, K3 from left needle, slip 3 stitches from cable needle back to left needle and knit those 3, P2*  Repeat * sequence until end

Rounds 5-10:  Repeat round one

Round 11:  Repeat round four cable round

Rounds 12-17:  Repeat round one

Round 18:  Repeat round four cable round

Rounds 19-21:  Repeat round one

Bind off with a STRETCHY bind off.   A normal bind off will not get the stretch needed to fit over the head!

I use this:
(After your initial first stitch)
For knit stitches: YO from BACK TO FRONT, knit, pass the YO and the previous stitch over the new knit stitch.
For purl stitches: YO from front to back (the normal way), purl, pass the YO and the previous stitch over the new purled stitch.

A video tutorial for this bind off can be found here.

Cut yarn and weave through last stitch with darning needle and weave in end.

And there you have it - a cute new cabled earwarmer!  Enjoy!

  1. Ok, I know you are a tad busy, but if you ever started having some spare time and were going to sell any of these awesome products, I'd be a customer!
