Memorial Weekend Recap

A few glimpses of our weekend for posterity's sake.

Some baseball on Saturday...

I love when Luke puts on the helmet and turns into a bobble head.

Playing catcher

Michael hit every time.  He's in the machine pitch league.  John Paul just started kid-pitch.  The night before he had his first ever late game under the lights.  Their average team shut out the other team and John Paul got to pitch an inning.  Only Brian went because it didn't make sense taking all the kids out past their bedtime in the fifty degree weather for several hours.

Sunday we spent an awesome day watching Brian rock a marathon (still on a high after that!) and hosting a little celebration afterwards.

And Monday we drove over to my hometown for the Memorial Day parade and service.

The parade was kind of lame this year.  Some years it's pretty good.  But at least the weather was perfect.

Parades:  Where parents encourage their children to run out into the street and take candy from strangers.

I didn't get any pics of the service afterward but it was very moving.  It's not that long and I think it's really important that we bring our kids.  And yes, I cried.

Then on to Grandma and Grandpa's for a nap-free afternoon inaugurating the pool for the summer!

I'm pretty sure this one was born a few years too early.  Everyone thinks he and Luke are twins anyway.  I mean, why not use the baby float when you're five?

(It's my niece in the bonnet not Luke ;)
John Paul spent most of the time playing baseball with his cousin and Uncle Greg and surprisingly little time in the pool.  Sooo...ignored in the picture taking.

A packed and lovely weekend.  I don't know about you but I am so ready for this summer.
