Return to Ordinary

It's ordinary time again.  It's good, I think, to return to the goodness of the ordinary after a lovely Christmas, though a part of me still wants to stay a big longer there.  We took the tree down Sunday.  The window candles and wreaths will stay up until Candlemas (The Feast of the Presentation - February 2) but the rest of the decorations are gone.  Last week we returned to lessons and I'm facing the need to reevaluate our routine, our learning choices, and my expectations but really, I don't wanna.  At all.  I want to feel motivated but I just don't.  I need a good swift kick in the pants or something.  Or probably just to get outside more.  But I'd rather just settle in for another cup of coffee and a game with my kids.

Some January ordinary from our house:

Now to shake off this January melancholy blah that's been creeping in and make the most of these gifted ordinary days...

How's your January going?  Seems like there's a lot of blah out there, especially in blogs I visit.  Here's hoping we can all shake it off and steep ourselves in whatever He wants to give us during this season of ordinary.  Happy Tuesday!

  1. See their cloaks are still popular!:) Our college boy (18) is home, the other day he dug his cloak out of the cupboard and wore it down the bush as camouflage and his talking about taking it back with him. They never outgrow them;)

  5. Wonderful pictures ! They look cozy and warm. Hope the furnace is behaving. The ice looks perfect for skating. May you get plenty of sunshine through your windows during these January days. Sunshine makes such a difference. :)

  6. That photo with all of the boys, each doing their own thing, but companionably, is just beautiful. The picture of peace.

  7. Maybe your next baby will be born in January and then it won't be so dull and ordinary. I know celebrating Sydney's birthday gives me something to look forward to after all the joy that surrounds Christmas.

I want to know....did you take the outdoor photos from inside? : )

    1. Ha, we'll have to remember that come April or so ;) And, oh my goodness, I am such a wimp. I took them from the upstairs window. I keep telling myself that I need to just get outside every day but then I wimp out.

    1. Isn't that the best? John Paul and Michael worked on it together. St. Joseph and Baby Jesus were added after I took the shot but it was too dark to get them and then they melted during the night :( It was so awesome, though.
