First Tuesday Novena Today (Amongst Other Things)

Don't forget that today is the first Tuesday of the month!  Please join those of us who have committed to praying the Election Novena and fasting for our country and the elections in November.  The novena ends on Election Day.  And if you haven't been joining in thus far, it's okay to jump in now.  God doesn't mind, I promise.

PRAYER BEFORE AN ELECTION

Lord God,
as the election approaches,
we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our city, state, and country,
and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community.
We ask for eyes that are free from blindness
so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters,
one and equal in dignity,
especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty.
We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and those abandoned,
men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender.
We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to
your Kingdom.
We pray for discernment
so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word,
live your love,
and keep in the ways of your truth
as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles
and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Today is also the feast of St. Joseph the Worker.  So, happy feast day and prayers for all those looking for sustaining and good work.  I am so grateful for a husband who works hard day and night at a job that certainly isn't glamourous but supports the family he loves.  That?  Is real love.  I'm thinking maybe said husband should get a special dinner on a day like today.  Steak, no?

I've been busy busy busy getting ready for John Paul's first Holy Communion party as well as the rest of crazy May...sister's birthday, David's birthday, Mother's Day, Brian's Birthday, my mom's birthday, friend's birthday, baseball games, homeschool planning...and more.  But all very very good things keeping me busy and for that I am glad!  Fun times ahead.

Oh, and please also join me in celebrating the birth of a beautiful baby boy to a loyal reader of this here blog!  Francisco Karol was born last night healthy and happy to a dear friend.  How awesomely cool that he was born on the one year anniversary of Blessed John Paul II's beatification!  (For those that don't know Karol was the first name of Pope John Paul II before he became pope.)  I know, it was May 1 of last year that he was beatified BUT in the Catholic liturgical world, the day starts at sundown the night before, so it totally counts.  I can't wait to meet this little guy!

Hope you're having a wonderful day and I'll be back soon to post thoughts and words and just maybe they won't be as scrambled and rambly as this!  But no promises :)
