This picture was taken yesterday afternoon and last night I finished the knitting for my Gift Wrap Romper! Now I just need to sew on the buttons and block. This is the most complicated knit I've done so far but since the pattern is laid out step by step it wasn't overwhelming or intimidating (and I only slightly messed up one thing :). It has been so enjoyable to knit. This will be put in a gift basket for my cousin's baby shower this weekend. We put together a cloth diaper package for her from her registry and I'm going to throw in some of my homemade postpartum/baby concoctions as well. I love her registry and it makes me wish I could go back and register for all the things I REALLY needed rather than all the stuff I was told to get and then ended up giving away or selling at garage sales. Oh well. Live and learn, right? I couldn't help myself and today downloaded the pattern for the Gift Wrap Bonnet to go with the romper. Tonight I think I'll begin working on that.
I'm about a third of the way through The Wreath, the first book of Kirsten Lavransdatter, this new copy gifted by a sweet, generous friend. (Thank you, friend!) This translation is SO much better than the one I started with and already I'm really relishing these times of curling up with it, however few and far between they may be!
We've been opening up some new books for read alouds with the boys but perhaps I'll save those for next week. Hope you're having a beautiful day and stop by Ginny's for more Yarn Along!
This looks beautiful. Have you been knitting long? I thought I noticed on a past post that you are new to this...if so I am very inspired! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been about a year and a half, I think? But this was definitely something I could've done before. My fear of making mistakes on something bigger combined with me being too cheap to buy the more complicated patterns anyway and I just never tried :)
Deletebeautiful knitting and yay that it is off the needles! Lovely shade of blue :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a comfy cozy looking romper. I had never seen that one before. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI see that all the other comments are about the knitting... so I will comment on "Kristin"... I'm eager to get my hands on the newer translation and make my own comparison. I'm still in the middle of the second book - the library copy with the scraggly-yellow-hair Kristin on the front... Does the new translation take away from the Middle-Ages feel, or perhaps it's just so much easier to read that, I trow, it doesn't matter!
ReplyDeleteIt does but I think it's worth it! I was getting a bit lost in the other one and couldn't keep track of all the lineages and such. I'm really starting to dive in now :)
