Sometimes those sufferings were given are so much harder to accept than the ones we choose and have control over. I'm very glad you're feeling better!Mary @ Better Than Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05409924891343767874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-86974325218459113472015-02-19T15:18:02.180-05:002015-02-19T15:18:02.180-05:00Thank you, Jill…I pray I can do that this Lent!Thank you, Jill…I pray I can do that this Lent!Mary @ Better Than Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05409924891343767874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-89857038260667610062015-02-19T14:45:25.679-05:002015-02-19T14:45:25.679-05:00This is so great! Yes, yes, a million times yes! ...This is so great! Yes, yes, a million times yes! I am focusing on begging God for an increase in self-control (pertaining mostly to how I interact with my children but food does come into play too) and for the past 24 hours I've had a terrible terrible stomach bug in which I was not able to be in control at all. I hardly interacted with my children and certainly not food. This is the second Ash Wednesday that I have been very sick and it just serves to remind me (painfully ;)) that God wants our obedience and trust. And now that I'm past it (mostly) I am happy to have suffered for my particular intention. We just have to keep our eyes on Jesus!Hollyparlierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11845783197149855070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-17239681348131961772015-02-19T13:24:05.466-05:002015-02-19T13:24:05.466-05:00Mary, this is a beautiful post. It's so easy to get caught up in the "look what I'm doing" game and it's really about letting God work within each of us in our unique, individual way.Jill Foleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15919221814694982320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-61153996804508357372015-02-19T10:27:09.220-05:002015-02-19T10:27:09.220-05:00Thank you, Erica! It is a blessing and a curse to be so involved is each other's lives. We sometimes forget that the only place we need to look for guidance and inspiration is Jesus. When I saw the tag line on that campaign, I was kind of put off to be honest. I felt the same way, like, well maybe that's exactly what someone might need to do? It almost felt condescending. (Clearly he is not a woman who may be more than slightly attached to the afternoon chocolate addiction and sugar high and doesn't understand the struggle…not that I know anything about that ;)Mary @ Better Than Edenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05409924891343767874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-35909557695257212242015-02-19T00:28:08.234-05:002015-02-19T00:28:08.234-05:00Okay I think Google ate my comment. The Best Lent Ever stuff said not to give up chocolate this year. But between me and Jesus, I realized that is exactly what I needed to do. With that and just one other practice, I am prepared to live my Lent. I dont need to do all the things. Its just little baby steps for me, and that's just fine.Tamarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16587525500082410908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-640846201971673514.post-40801976168019062332015-02-18T23:04:52.705-05:002015-02-18T23:04:52.705-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Tamarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16587525500082410908noreply@blogger.com
